Last LA Pictures

Here's the last of the pictures from LA, then I'm on to catching up on pictures from our lovely time at home for the last few weeks.

below: pictures from the drive down (Molly didn't like the sun in her eyes so she asked us to cover her in a blanket and promptly fell asleep. When the sun started to set she woke up just enough to pull the blanket down); Molly playing in our apartment; Molly thrilled at something; Clara on GGMa's shoulder; visiting family; Clara smiling.

visiting with the greats

our trip to LA wasn't just fun at the beach, molly and clara got to visit with the "greats":

Molly & Clara's great-grandparents Marcia and Henry ("GGMa & GGPa")

Beach Pictures

Did I mention that when we were right on the beach? Here are some of the beach pictures I promised earlier: Molly with her beach toys; Sofi & Molly enjoying the sunset on the beach; Zach & Molly (aka "the Remarkable Cow") enjoy some beach play time; view of Zach & Molly on the beach through the apartment window; Molly enjoying the play equipment at "the Original Muscle Beach".

molly - that was Molly typing! She's been really interested in spelling her name recently. She figured out all the letters that spell her name, she can recognize them when she sees them, and recently she realized that all the letters are on the computer keyboard! what fun! letters and buttons together! The only problem came when she asked where the other "L" was. Her name has two "L's" and the keyboard only had one "L" which caused confusion until we convinced her she could push the "L" button twice.

And now back to our original programing - here are the beach pictures:

LA fun

oh what fun we had!

Molly enjoying her "Trucks Pajamas"; Molly navigating the dump truck; Sofi & Clara outside the arcade on the pier; Zach & Molly taking a bike ride along the beach; Zach & Molly chillin' on the pier; Molly enjoying the carousel (she insisted on a horse that had a safety strap); & Molly considering the prospect of fishing.

LA

We're in LA this week and taking lots of great pictures. Unfortunately, the memory card on the camera we took does not work with the laptop, so, alas, there are no pictures to post right now. But I can tell you things are beautiful, the girls are lovely and as cute as ever. Zach found a great apartment to rent *right on the beach*!!! It's an awesome "home base" for all our visiting. So, imagine beautiful pictures of Zach & Molly playing on the beach while Clara & I nurse in the cozy apartment. And then we'll post them next week.

On the drive down Molly had lots of questions about LA and the beach. We'll be staying "in" LA. We'll be staying "at" the beach. She wants us to show her where LA is. Well, LA is a place. It's a city. Like Berkeley is a city. It has roads, houses, buildings. Hmm. So then she wants to go in the beach. You can't really go "in" the beach. Oh. Is the house in the beach? Is the beach in the house? Is this piece of paper LA? So many questions this girl has.

fire school day

Molly likes to talk about something called "Fire School Day". It may have something to do with this YouTube video we like, or about wearing her fire truck boots to school, or it may just be silly talk. Today it was because she made this fire truck at school...

friends

What's Molly up to these days? Well, she's been busy being a big sister & growing up. I caught her this afternoon making friends with another kid at the park.

She's been acting more and more like a big kid. She makes logical statements and requests, and if I had more brain power now I would repeat some of them here. She's also getting more and more of a handle on language, but still has some really endearing mis-uses of words. My favorite right now is "because". She uses it in the "right" places often ("I don't want you to do that because I don't like that") but also uses it where we might typically say "and so" ("I drink water because I make pee pee"). I enjoy these turns of phrase and I'm in no hurry for her to grow out of them.
