Time Capsule

We are doing a big "rearranging" in the house - and as part of that we got the idea (thanks to Mary P!) to leave a little time capsule in one of the walls. And we finally did it this morning! (phew! It was our last chance, since the last section of wall rearranging gets closed up today!).

I won't reveal everything that's in it, but to give a sense there was:

  • two photographs of our family in front of the house - one showing the whole front and one zoomed in a bit more on us
  • a letter from me to the future reader of the letter, whoever that might be, describing the pictures, telling a little bit about each of us, and asking questions about the future
  • a note from Zach, with hopes, concerns, and questions about the future
  • a picture from Clara - a tracing of her hands, colored in, and her name
  • a paper doll from Clara
  • a drawing of Molly's name from Molly
  • a catalog (Lands End kids)
  • the front page of last Sunday's New York Times
It's fun to imagine someone finding that in the future - and guessing whether it will be 5, 10, or 100 years!

Glasses!

Clara got glasses! She's thrilled. Apparently she's ever so slightly farsighted, something that many kids grow out of. She may or may not grow out of it, but for now she's got some awesome spectacles!

Birthday Party

As the Molly's birthday week winds to an end, we celebrated with an awesome party. Highlights included:
** "10" cake by Mary P!
** Stamp making at the Family Book Lab
** Running around like crazy kids in the Edible Schoolyard (aka Garden) at the Middle School.

Nona's Decorations

Over the past few years, Nona has developed a tradition of decorating our front porch on each girls' birthday. Here's the latest iteration (done with help from Clara)!

Memory lane

The girls are having an overnight tonight with "Kika" their lovely childcare provider of yore, who regularly does "alumnae sleepovers" with some of the kids. She is awesome and loves her kids so much, and I found this photo on her refrigerator of Clara as a toddler.

Happy Birthday Molly!

What a day! Happy birthday dearest Molly! We got up early and celebrated all day long. Here's the pictures from the morning porch decoration (thank you Nona for the decorations! and Mary P for taking the pictures!):

And pictures from the afternoon "dunch" (or is it "linner"?) at the park:
