First Day of School

Back to school today, ready for a whole new year! (The second picture of Clara on her own is her pretending to be at school writing.)

Halloween

Another fantastically fun (although a little wet) Halloween is behind us. Molly dressed up as a devil (or a Sewer Devil, to be exact) using the amazing sequined costume Nona found in August in a Burning Man costume bin. Clara dressed up as a Kitty-Ghost-Bat. Yes, all three at once. Kitty mask + tail, bat wings, and the ghost part was painting the bottom half of her face white. Amazingly, once she settled on this idea about a week before Halloween, she stuck with it, right through the end of the day.

Here are pictures of the kids at the school celebrations, the kids at home, with their pumpkins, and with some neighbors.

Easter Egg Hunt

After days of the kids asking "when do we get to paint eggs?" and "can we have an easter egg hunt now?" we finally did it today! I guess the nice thing about not officially celebrating easter is that we can celebrate it when we have time! So, I found the all-natural egg-dyes that I had bought on sale last spring after easter, and we went to the corner store to get some eggs. And we made some pretty nice looking eggs, if you ask me! I even blew out the fresh eggs so that I wouldn't have to boil them. We also had a couple of our own fresh eggs already boiled that we colored and added to the mix. And a couple of neighbor kids came over and joined the fun!

Phone pix from the last two years

I had to wipe my phone which led me to back up my photos from the last two years. Here's a few I found...

This last one was an art project Molly did for 1st grade as part of Day of the Dead, where the assignment was to honor someone who died. She did her great grandfather Maynard Franklin who died in March.

M & N's Lemonade (Feb 2011)

Back in February Molly & Nate set up a mini lemonade stand on our back porch, trying to pedal their lemonade to me, Zach, Clara, & Sean. They had limited success - Molly was willing to take fake money, but Nate was holding out for real cash. But, they had a nice time and even made their own logo (at the bottom, out of pipe cleaners).
