Berkeley Family Camp 2013

On Sunday we got back from 4 nights at Berkeley Tuolumne Camp. I suppose it's a tradition now: it seems if you do something 3 years in a row it pretty much becomes a thing you do, right?

This year was as good as in the past - and it was once again really fun to have the grandparents with us. In addition to enjoying all the same activities as last year, Molly tried (and loved!) archery (even getting her first bullseye!), Nona & Nana brought their looms, we decided to allow the kids to get one treat from the camp store per day, and Clara & Zach made a Mastermind board (since we forgot our board at home, but brought the pieces).

Books

Last week Molly read Clara her last morning book at preschool. Sitting and reading books as part of our morning dropoff routine is something we started when Molly was a wee one and needed a lot of consistency and support through transitions. Clara usually didn't need (or always remembered) about books, but Molly always reminded her. She was honored to do the last morning.

Onward to elementary school, now. Based on today's "get to know everyone" potluck, I think she's gonna do fine: on her own she introduced herself to all of her potential teachers!

motherhood and apple pie

Another nice visit with Nona - lots of time at the park, in the backyard with the chickens, and lots and lots of reading books. And eating apple pie with ice cream (and cheddar cheese?).
