Snow trip: Sledding

Last week we had a wonderful, short stay up in the mountains with some friends from the kids' school. They seem to have found the one spot in the mountains that has snow right now (we are experiencing a pretty severe drought). Lucky us! There was the typical antics: snow eating, sledding (can you find the picture where Molly gets big air?!), snowshoeing, and hanging out. Plus a few more fun things like: walking on a frozen lake (a first for me!), building the bottom part of an igloo (aka, a fort), and helping our friends settle into their new mountain house.

Molly & Indy are deep into Harry Potter, while Zach & Clara have biked off for bagels. All is good.

We are having one of those nights. I wanted to take a picture of both kids crying, but they refused. So, instead, here's a picture of Nona's bud vase on the empty dinner table.
Molly: please, can we video chat [with daddy]?
Clara: I am feeling mad about the [school] pictures.

Homework by candle light

Zach is away, and I'm trying to email him a picture of the kids every day, with a note about goings on. Here's today's report & picture:

The girls came up with this low-tech solution to the flickering light in the dining room.

Another strong evening (although last night's difficulties were after I emailed you). Early pick up from Willard, dinner from Berkeley bowl to bring with us, circus classes, finishing up piano & homework, and now we are heading to bedtime reading.

Clara & Zach's Excellent Adventure Day

On Saturday, Zach and Clara had an excellent adventure: they picked olives in Vacaville, drove around farm country, and biked & BARTed to San Francisco to eat sushi on the Embarcadero at the Ferry Building. (meanwhile, Molly and I hung out with friends, and then had a special Nona-Sofi-Molly date to see "The Little Princess" musical).

Trick Or Treating

This is (part of) the group that ended up tromping around the neighborhood collecting candy - I mean, Trick-or-Treating.
