Let's storm the Castle!

June 19, 2012

After napping in the hotel, Laurent took us to Chateau de Vincennes, a real classic castle with a moat, a chapel (which looks more like a cathedral to me), a dungeon, and more.

Afterwards, we went to a small playground by the castle. And as we were driving back through the Bois de Vincennes we saw a carousel so we stopped and let the girls go for a ride. The operator played a game with the kids where they got to try to pull the tassle off a ball, which Clara got - and she won another ride on the carousel!

Parc de Luxembourg

June 19, 2012

In the morning we took a walk to the nearby Parc de Luxembourg, described in some places as a "picture postcard Paris experience". And it was lovely. Of course we stopped at the so-called "adventure playground", which is a fenced off play area that you pay to get in, and the kids really enjoyed. In particular, they spent a lot of time spinning on the variety of spinny things. And Molly got to go on the circular zip-line, which looked like a pretty wild ride. While we were there it was pretty empty, since the local kids were in school. And the other attractions (carousel, swings, etc) were closed. But it was more than sufficient for our needs.

We also enjoyed walking through the rest of the park, looking at statues (and trying to mimic them, too).

Midnight Snack

June 19, 2012, approx. 3am

As tired as we were after our day of travelling, we all woke up around 3am and couldn't get back to sleep. So we got up for a midnight snack and to look out the window at the street at night. We also spent a lot of time trying to convince the kids that it really was the middle of the night (see: no one is out on the street!).
