SMOAC: Hayward Shoreline (1/2)

For my March 30th SMOAC I took us down to the Hayward Shoreline. Lucky us, Nana & Pa got to join us for the stroll out to the bay. (They were in town on their way to Seattle for Nana's back surgery). More pictures to come.

Pa & Zach pose while I set up the family shot.

Molly's Paper Shoes

Molly made these excellent paper slippers in March. They're pretty cool - great colors, decorations, and I love seeing how she engineered them, and then worked to customize mine to fit my feet. But the coolest part was the story that Nona told when she saw them. It turns out that her father (my Opa) also really enjoyed making slippers out of paper. He even got excited when the post office started using those Tyvek mailers - apparently those make the best slippers! I guess Molly gets her craftiness from all sides!

Neighborhood Easter

How awesome is this? The kids enjoyed a fantastic easter egg hunt, including decorating eggs the day before - entirely organized and executed by the 7th grader next door! Lillian (and her sister Roxanne & friend Rachel) did a fantastic job decorating eggs, hiding eggs, rounding up some kids, and helping the kids hunt through the three connected yards. All the while, the parents got to chat and watch the fun.

Clara's Wire Art

A butterfly that Clara made in her Wire Art afterschool class. This has got to be one of my favorite kid art classes - the kids love it, the teacher is amazing, and the stuff they make is beautiful!

Reading at the Bus Stop

Waiting for the bus home after another successful trip to the library. Can't wait 'til our neighborhood library re-opens this spring (in a fancy new building!)

Spring Flowers

Spring is well under way and it's been a beautiful one! Here are just some of the flowers of late, including:
- a beautiful bouquet of bright orange poppies with pink coral bells that Nona brought us from her garden
- the brightest and longest bloom that I've seen on our Redbud tree since we planted it ... 9 years ago?
- bright yellow with orange center poppies from our front yard
