Muir Beach
When Ann & Warren were visiting, we took a day trip to Muir Beach. It's been ages since we've been there, and watching my cousin Sara's son explore the tidepools reminded me that we're long overdue to take the kids (Molly was in Montana with her friend & Clara was in CV with Nana & Pa).

And, finally, all of these pictures say they were taken in 1988 in Ocracoke.

Sofi in the Early 1980s
More pictures from Ann's trove - these are from the early 1980's on two (or more) of our annual trips to Ocracoke (our families vacationed together there nearly every summer from the 1970's through the 1990's).
And, finally, here's Mary, looking stylish:
This first picture shows a version of the shelter they usually built for long days on remote beaches, (and that's me in the sand in the background, and Dieter, too). The second picture is me and Ann & Warren's son, Nat. Then it's me on the beach, and Mary, doing what she loved (collecting shells!), and finally Dieter.
This picture is clearly later in the 1980's, showing Nouri, me, & Nat off exploring.

Sofi in the 1970s
When Ann and Warren visited, Ann brought some pictures from her photo albums. I took the liberty of scanning them - here's some of my favorites from the 1970's.
These two were taken in our backyard in Takoma Park - Ann pointed out how delightfully careful I appear to be in petting their dog.

The next set were taken at Ann & Warren's house before they moved to Lucketts (see below). Probably that same summer?

Next are pictures taken at Ann and Warren's house in Lucketts (I think they moved that same year). I love seeing Mary exploring nature with us. I also like seeing the old Volvo (one in a series of very old Volvos) and the bumper stickers from Ocracoke! And Mary's stylish coat!!
Finally, a shot of Mary and me from another time in the woods - I think this is earlier than the others, but don't really know.

Molly and Clara at the beach
Zach and the kids are in LA right now and I keep getting pictures of them frolicking on the beach (there's a heatwave of sorts, so it's actually warm enough to enjoy the beach, from what I hear). This is by far my favorite picture yet: that's Clara and Molly in the center, Molly with her arms thrown out. I miss all three of them, and at the same time I'm totally treasuring the quiet time and enjoying watching old Sherlock Holmes movies with Dieter.
Pictures from Ann and Warren's visit
Ann and Warren came to Berkeley for Mary's memorial a few weeks back. Here's some pictures I snagged off of Ann's iphone. She went to the Alameda antique market (she's an antique dealer) and Clara had a blast trying on some of her finds. Also pictured is my cousin Sara's son, Sy, enjoying an In-N-Out meal, our hens, and Molly's current project to hang a thousand cranes from our ceiling. And, Susie is in there, plus Nouri's girlfriend, Victoria.
