molly's ark

Molly's great grandparents took her to the museum this morning to see this wonderful "Noah's Ark" exhibit, with animals made out of all recycled materials and lots of interactive machines to explore. She had a great time, and when we got back she and her great grandma Marcia (AKA "GGMa") made their own ark.

The exhibit was also interesting because it talked about how the "deluge" myth was common among both Abrahamic and non-Abrahamic traditions throughout the world, which I didn't realize.

Molly's Adventure

Molly & Zach are down in LA for the weekend. We miss them terribly, but clearly they are having a good time. Click on the picture for more pictures from Molly's trip to the pier with Tommy & family. (Thanks Amanda!)

Happy Birthday Zach!

When Molly heard that Zach was going to have a birthday she immediately wanted to make him a cake. A chocolate cake. So, I picked her up early from school today and we had a good time making the cake. As I took the picture on top Molly exclaimed: "Oh my goodness! I just realized that I'm the perfect height to eat off the table with no chair!"

Later, we went to dinner with the GRID staff to celebrate many things, including Zach's birthday, the award of a major contract, and a baby due any day now.

And through this Molly was amazing. She was the sweetest big sister - she fed Clara and played with Clara - and was generally fun all afternoon. I attribute this in large part to the fact that she actually napped today! This is a big deal since naps have been far and few between in the recent weeks. Was it due to the earlier bed time (7pm instead of 8pm)? Or maybe the special "room" that Rosa & Lupe made for her at school out of sleeping mats turned on their sides to create "walls"? Whatever it was, it helped Molly through a very long and very exciting afternoon and evening.

Happy Birthday Zach!
