Catching Butterflies

We went up to the Tilden Nature Area over the weekend and joined a naturalist for a Butterfly Catching adventure. Molly & Zach were quite the catch & release team. Clara wanted "mee-too".

Yard Sale Finds

The two things Molly asked to get at the Via Nova yard sale: the train set, and the tank top. She's a well-balanced child.

Purple

Molly & I painted the bench this week. She picked an amazing color of purple. It's fabulous. And we had just enough paint left over to paint this groovy bent plywood stool we found on Prince Street.

Begging for Strawberries

we walked over to Spiral Gardens the other day and admired their baby chicks (& the duckling being raised by a hen). Clara admired the strawberries. Here are some pictures of her begging for more. And also some pictures of her practicing her pitch.

May 17 - heatwave

more pictures than you could ever want to see of three kids in a kiddie pool. But it was fun. And they're cute. So enjoy!

Backstory: one of our recent heatwaves (they seem to be interspersed with cold spells). We set up the kiddie pool that we inherited from Oscar, and invited Nate over to splash. My favorite is the one of the three of them where they look like they're bowing (last photo). That was my attempt to get them to all kneel in the pool (which, in my defense, they had been doing moments earlier) and look at the camera.

Also funny about this day: Molly kept talking about "real pools". In the end, I determined that she considered this pool to be a "real pool". And perhaps the not-real pools are the bath tub and the sandbox that we used to fill with water last year?

May 10th (belated)

So much has changed in a month and a half. Clara's hair is cut. That volunteer veggie plant has exploded. That bench is on the verge of making it's annual color change.
And so much has stayed the same. The garden is lovely. The hens are fat. Clara is funny.

May 17

Finding old pictures I meant to post before. These are pictures of the the chicks from May 17 & April 26 (the first one).

In other news, Clara's really getting into learning words. Last night at dinner she announced "Mo dta-pa!". It took me a minute (and a couple repetitions) but I figured out she was (clearly) saying "More pasta!". She was thrilled when the "dta-pa" came.
