Molly's California Girls Song
Molly just dictated this song to me (and asked me to post it to the website):
---------------------------
The California girls wear graceful clothes
and they are graceful too
if you wanna find them
either look up their number (which is #### ********** street)
and you should also try to find their campsite
if they're not at their house
cuz they like to go camping
camping camping
and they really will love it
if you visit
they like to ride bicycles
and they do pretty well
their mom and their dad and their nona
help out with their bike riding
THE END!!!

This evening (bikes and chickens)
The girls were in such a good mood after spending the day with Nona that we got out the bikes and decided to try biking to the neighborhood school. For the first time Molly zipped off on her bike, with Zach running behind her. Clara and I decided to try a bike with training wheels for the first time. She was thrilled to be riding a bike like ours. She kept exclaiming: "It's Just Like Molly's Bike!" or "It's Just Like Your Bike!". She was much slower, but very determined and very good humored about it all.
When we caught up with them at the playground, Molly was practicing stopping (and making skid marks!). She also had some fun taking pictures on my new Phone-Camera (she took the last photo of me & Zach).
And when we finally dragged them home we found out what the chicks do if we don't get them into the coop in time.

Kids on Bikes
Molly went so fast that I had to take the training wheels off - she was going to tip over! And I know how easily she could be discouraged from riding again, so rather than let her have a bad fall I told her she was ready for "bike class". Day one: we took off the training wheels *and* the pedals. We practiced walking the bike. Steering the bike. Getting on and off the bike. Scooting the bike. I'm happy to report that just a few bike lessons later she's a bike rider for real!
