It was a sort of interesting article (basically, according to these guys, names don't really have much of an impact on lifetime achievement). But quite notable was their list of the "whitest" and "blackest" names (http://www.slate.com/id/2116449/sidebar/2116453/) ... yup, we've got a white girl on our hands.

That comes from a new book that is all the rage, still--Freakanomics! I have read it only in excerpts but it seems really interesting and makes for great party conversation! We gave Stefan a copy for his birthday hopefully he will be so kind as to lend it to us.
This post on Bengali "nick names", though it talks only about boys is somtheing I can relate to and these DO have impact.
