Sunday after dinner we biked up to the playground to practice distance biking. In the last few weeks Molly's confidence on the bike has grown by leaps and bounds. I'll admit, I aided it along the way with jelly beans. Jelly bean for every time she fell (to help her get over her fear of falling). Then a jelly bean for every time she made a good sized skid mark (to help her get over her fear of using the pedal brakes). And today we worked on getting some distance in. And distance she went! She biked to the school playground, then, with just a little encouragement, she biked around and around the playground. And around and around and around and around. The gird didn't want to stop! I think she's found her comfort zone: off the sidewalk, away from cars. What fun it was to watch her! I just wish I could capture it in pictures better. But here's what I've got.
And, by the way, she did wipe out once on that turn from asphalt to dirt/gravel. And she jumped up and ran to me for a ... jelly bean. I guess my scheme worked?
