Molly is nothing, if not committed when she puts her mind to something.
Two years ago we went cherry picking with some friends. Molly declared that she would not eat anything with a pit. And so, she didn't. She spent the whole day with us, happily picking cherries, watching the other kids drench themselves in cherry juice. But she did not eat a single cherry.
And for two years she's followed that mantra. Nothing with a pit. Not even if we pitted it (we had bought a cherry-pitter for that cherry-picking trip two years ago, so yes, we tried to convince her that way).
And then, last week, her buddy Nate went cherry picking, brought back a bunch of cherries, and gave Molly a cherry muffin. I'm not sure what had changed that let her try that muffin - maybe it was just her dedication to her friend Nate - but she tried the muffin and decided that maybe she might like cherries, after all.
So the next time we had cherries in our house (which wasn't long after, since it's cherry season, and all), she got out the cherry-pitter, and tried herself a cherry. Here's how it went:
I think she might eat more cherries in the future. And she's even considering trying other stone fruits.
